Where the CPS budget ends, Friends of Lake View High School (FOLV) steps in. Thanks to the generosity of our community, FOLV funds multiple grant requests each academic year to ensure our Wildcats have everything they need to thrive. In 2023, we stretched our budget to award more grants than ever before. FOLV was happy to award $10,000+ in funding to Lake View teachers and coaches.
FOLV has previously awarded grants for:
To manage our budget responsibly, all grant applications are shared with Dr. Karafiol and carefully discussed by our board to ensure alternate funding does not exist, and that we are staying within the guidelines of our bylaws.
To apply for a grant from FOLV, you must be a current member of LVHS staff applying on behalf of a class, club, sport, student activity or on behalf of the entire student experience. This means that grants monies have to be used to pay for things that are not of personal or single use. FOLV typically considers requests ranging from $100 to $1,500. If your need is greater, you must email info@folvhs.org for special consideration.
Spring grant applications are being accepted Jan. 16-26, 2024. Decisions will be announced on Feb. 14, 2024. Follow our socials for updates.
Funds must be used as described in your grant request by the specified deadline. Receipts or purchase orders must be provided to FOLV. If the deadline passes and the granted money hasn’t been used, the grant is automatically revoked after the deadline and the applicant will have to wait to apply again at a later grant window. All money granted through this process MUST be used as specified, if the funding for the specific request is no longer needed, a new application must be submitted for consideration of the Board.
